Muslim Directory Data Breach

What happened

In February 2014, the UK guide to services and business known as the Muslim Directory was attacked by the hacker known as @th3inf1d3l. The data was consequently dumped publicly and included the web accounts of tens of thousands of users which contained data including their names, home address, age group, email, website activity and password in plain text.

• Change your Muslim Directory password immediately, and update it anywhere you reused the same password.
• Enable two-factor authentication on the affected account and on your critical services (email, banking).
• Watch for targeted phishing emails referencing Muslim Directory — attackers weaponise breach data quickly.
• Stay alert for smishing (SMS phishing) and SIM-swap attempts using your phone number.
• Exposed identity data raises identity-theft risk — consider credit monitoring or a credit freeze.
