OwnedCore Data Breach

What happened

In approximately August 2013, the World of Warcraft exploits forum known as OwnedCore was hacked and more than 880k accounts were exposed. The vBulletin forum included IP addresses and passwords stored as salted hashes using a weak implementation enabling many to be rapidly cracked.

• Change your OwnedCore password immediately, and update it anywhere you reused the same password.
• Enable two-factor authentication on the affected account and on your critical services (email, banking).
• Watch for targeted phishing emails referencing OwnedCore — attackers weaponise breach data quickly.
