What happened

In July 2015, the discussion forum for Plex media centre was hacked and over 327k accounts exposed. The IP.Board forum included IP addresses and passwords stored as salted hashes using a weak implementation enabling many to be rapidly cracked.

• Change your Plex password immediately, and update it anywhere you reused the same password.
• Enable two-factor authentication on the affected account and on your critical services (email, banking).
• Watch for targeted phishing emails referencing Plex — attackers weaponise breach data quickly.
